Snow!

Life is a dream...
Wondering what goes on in the imagination of my little girl when in the middle of the night she wakes up whimpering “No, No, no, no, no, no, no”. It’s tough enough living in the real world (of no) when you’re 19 months old and you’ve got a newborn sister, let alone in an imagined “world of no” when you are alone and sleeping.

She's Here!
K was in rare form this morning. After a brief respite, and a thumbs up to go ahead and push K delivered our little girl in just over ten minutes! Incredible.
Mother and daughter are doing well and getting acquainted with each other.
Pics later today!

Making great progress.
OB indicated that we’re getting there. K is trying to sleep now before the last push is upon us.

K’s laboring and sleeping, laboring and sleeping.
OB says we’re making progress…but need more time to know how she’s (V2) handling the progression in order to proceed.
Hurry up and wait. Hurry up and wait.

Further Progressions
We’re in ‘active labor land’ which means that K’s been hard at work for the past 8 hours.
K’s water ‘broke’ this evening @ 10:15 and according to her OB the baby has not yet dropped into ‘position’ so, we’re getting there…but not there yet.
K’s taking a bit of a break as I write this. Hoping we both get a brief respite...
Progressions
We’ve been at the Hospital since 10:30 am and until 2pm it was very uneventful.
We got ourselves some lunch around one and got cozy (as cozy as one can get in a hospital setting)…
As I write this we’re seeing contractions come more frequently and in the last two hours - more intensely; all good signs.
We’re the only people walking the floor while K’s laboring,...

Woke up. Took out trash. Garbage guys were running early today. If I was running just a few minutes later, no take away for me. Good timing.
With V2, we haven’t been able to enjoy the same timing dynamics. She appears to take after her parents in this regard (as one of K’s friends have noted) who have been known to dawdle.
K and I have selected today as our ‘day’. If V2...

Due Date Plus Six
No word, no changes, no updates. Just me, K, her folks, and G (who is asleep as I write this) sitting around waiting for something to happen.
To me it feels a lot like we’re stuck someplace between the movie Groundhogs Day…(except it’s hot out, and we don’t get to live the same day over and over again, and none of us is really learning how to do amazing things in the span...
What not to say to a Pregnant Woman who is...
Man on the street: Wow, you are like...profoundly pregnant! (stammer, stammer) Can I ask: when are you due?
K: (pause) I'm over due.

Due Date Plus Three
We called the cavalry in.
Nana and Papa were recalled and were placed on active duty. They arrived yesterday and have taken up residence in our living room/kitchen. Suitable quarters are just not available for them (even after V2 arrives), but they know the drill, and have campaigned in these trenches before.
K is doing okay, again- all things considered. We think V2 has spun around with her...

Getting our kicks
It appears that V2 is a bit like Schrodinger’s Cat. The more closely we try and observe this little one, the less information we get about her. Like today…when under the scrutiny of multiple “ultra” machines, she freezes, as if somebody had just announced “Red Light”…and of course the moment the Doctor leaves, or makes an adjustment, or even looks away,...

Due Date Plus One
V2 was sleeping @ Doctors visit today. Soundly. Doc wanted to see some movement, but our little snoozer was not to be bothered (how do you wake up a baby in utero? It’s not like you can demand ‘feet on the floor!’ or whistle a creepy tune in their ear) so K’s off to the Hospital for some additional monitoring.
Routine, routine, routine, they’ve said, just a routine...

"Due Date" Arrives...
Don’t think that V2 will arrive as punctually as G. K’s doing fine (for a lady who has arrived at 40 weeks by enduring what has come to be a very hot summer) and we’ll probably have more news tomorrow after her Doc. appointment. Rainy morning today but it’s dried out a bit this afternoon. Hoping for a more restful night than last nights.

T-minus 1 day and counting...
No news today, and no signs of V2 letting us know she’s ready to arrive. Both K and G are napping while I putter around the apartment. It’s raining and humid and still inside and out. Hoping that we get some news on or before Tuesday’s Doc. appointment.

T-minus 2 days and counting...
Due date for number two approaches. Doesn’t seem like she is in a hurry to arrive. Holdin it down while the girls are napping.

It's a Girl!
Last night we were given new names: mom and dad. In the late evening on Tuesday, February 3rd (just over 24 hours ago), we welcomed into the world our first newborn child, and discovered the surprise that had been growing in Kristy’s womb for so long: A beautiful redheaded girl!
Both mother and daughter are healthy, strong, and are recovering well. If all goes smoothly over the next 12...

Now that we’ve passed into that part of the year where it seems that the bleak cold of Winter will not end, and the snow that falls quickly turns into dirty, brown, slushy evil, I thought that we’d brighten things up a bit with the above video clip which Scientist Neil Degrasse speaks at length regarding Black Holes and how a Black Hole will kill you…amongst other goodies.
